Brasília returns to the 2012 FIVB Beach Volleyball SWATCH World Tour calendar for the fourth straight season. It will be held at the Esplanada dos Ministérios in Quadrante 1.
Brazil has hosted the most FIVB SWATCH World Tour events, including 33 men’s and 28 women’s events. The 2012 Brasília stop also marks the 20th-straight season that Brazil has staged a women’s event. Except for the 2004 men’s event in Rio de Janeiro, teams from the South American country have medaled for host Brazil in every tournament.
Host country Brazil has 59 men’s medals, 18 gold, 21 silver, and 20 bronze and 51 women’s medals, 18 gold, 15 silver, and 18 bronze. The Brasília Open starts April 15 and concludes April 22.
The winning teams in each gender will share the $30,000 first-place prizes.
